Sorting Information
The price you get for your scrap is highly dependant upon the grade of scrap you have. For instance 500 MCM scrap has a much higher copper content per pound than 25 conductor #18 control cable. Obviously we cannot pay the same price for both unless it is adjusted by guessing how much of each is in the load. In order for us to pay you the highest price for your scrap, one of two things must happen. One, we take the wire to our shop after weighing it and sort it there…we don’t mind doing this but we will pay 5% less if we sort it and we cannot pay on the spot for the wire. The other, preferred method is for us to provide you with separate containers for the 2 or 3 grades of copper and/or the 1 grade of aluminium. It is really very simple to understand the difference in the grades. #1 has one layer of insulation and is wire sizes #2 and larger, #2 is single layer insulation #3 and smaller, romex, and multiconductor cable larger than #2, #3 is everything else. We will provide a poster to visually explain this to locate with the collection containers.

The chart below will tell you what we will pay for your scrap wire. Please note however that copper can go up or down as much as a dime a pound in a day and though we try to keep this site updated every few days the price we pay may not be what is posted here, it could be more or less depending so this may not be an exact quote.
