Homemade BBQ Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp grapeseed or olive oil (grapeseed can handle higher temps)

  • 1/3 yellow onion

  • 4 cloves garlic

  • 1 cup light brown sugar

  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar

  • 2 cups ketchup

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1 tsp mustard powder

  • 1 tsp fine sea salt

  • 1 tsp black pepper

  • 4 dashes of Worcestershire sauce

If you like your BBQ Sauce a little hotter, consider adding chili powder, diced peppers, or your favorite hot sauce!

Steps

In a sauce pan or pot, add oil, onions and garlic. Next, sauté the onions and garlic for 2 minutes. Begin adding ingredients one by one in the order listed above. When adding the brown sugar, let it simmer down and become close to a glaze. Stir throughout cooking process to help mix and prevent burning. Once all ingredients have been cooked for several minutes, pour the sauce into a blender and blend for 2-3 minutes. Pour the sauce into a mason jar to cool and then serve!

We enjoy this BBQ sauce on our pulled pork or pulled chicken, but it can be enjoyed on just about anything! The sauce can be held in the fridge for about 7-10 days after being cooked.
