Slow Cooker Shredded BBQ Chicken

Slow Cooker Shredded BBQ Chicken

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of your favorite BBQ sauce (we use our own recipe - check out our homemade BBQ sauce recipe for instructions!)

  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar (you can use dark instead, if preferred)

  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

  • *optional* 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

  • 3 chicken breasts (about 1.5 lbs of chicken total)

Steps

Combine all ingredients (except for the chicken) in a bowl and whisk them together to create one big bowl of sauce. Pour about half of the sauce into an empty crock pot, then lay your chicken on top of the layer of sauce. Pour the remaining sauce over the chicken to cover them. Set your crockpot to High for 3-4 hours or Low for 6-7 hours. 


Once the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees fahrenheit, you can shred it! You can shred it right there in the crockpot, or you can pull the chicken out, shred it in a bowl, and then put it back into the sauce. Enjoy!!
